Easy Anti-Inflammatory Lunches To Make At Home

Anti-Inflammatory Foods are your greatest helpers to fight inflammation in your body.

Inflammation in the body happens when white blood cells are released into the blood or tissues to protect your body against toxins, infections or injuries.  When your cells become damaged, your body releases chemicals that cause an immune system response.  Some of the symptoms of inflammation in the body include fever, rashes, abdominal or chest pain, and fatigue.

When people have chronic inflammation over a long period of time,  your organs and tissues can become damaged. It is believed that chronic inflammation left unchecked can play a role in all kinds of illnesses from asthma to cancer.  Smoking, obesity, alcohol and high stress also contribute to chronic inflammation.

To fight inflammation in the body, eating anti-inflammatory foods which are packed with antioxidants is really important.  Foods that can help lower your inflammation levels are easy to add to your diet and include olive oil, leafy greens like kale and spinach, tomatoes, and fatty fish that are high in Omega 3’s and 6’s such as salmon and sardines.  Blueberries, oranges, and cherries are packed with antioxidants and polyphenols and are perfect to add sweetness to your diet.  Nuts are also great to fight inflammation.

Here are a couple of quick, easy recipes that you can prepare at home to bring to work that will help lower your inflammation levels.

Simple Tuna Salad

Mix a can of wild-caught tuna with a half of an avocado.  No need for mayonnaise.  Add to a fresh salad of leafy greens and your favorite raw veggies.  A handful of blueberries for a snack.

Quinoa and Kale Salad

Prepare some organic quinoa and chop up some organic kale.  Add your favorite chopped veggies like red onion, scallions, carrots, zucchini, cherry tomatoes, walnuts, and sunflower seeds.  Adding some herbs and spices such as turmeric, garlic powder, black pepper, and oregano will make it a healthy, free radical killing lunch!  You can also add a 4 oz. wild caught salmon filet for added protein and antioxidants.

Berries are the most effective anti-inflammatory fruit and they taste great alone or on top of a salad.  Eating healthy lunches and snacks at work is key to feeling energized and helping you maintain a healthy weight.  Corporate fruit delivery is a great way to load up on antioxidants and fight inflammation while at work.  It tastes great too!
